Iinu-Agarijo-Ga is a communal well located on a slope about 120m south from Uchikanagusuku-taki in Kinjo-cho, Shuri. As mentioned in “Shuri Kochizu" (The Old Map of Shuri) in the 18th century, this well has been deeply associated with local people since a long time ago. The slope was dug to have an L-letter-shaped well; the opening of the well was dug vertically to get a half-moon shape, and the inside was plastered with stone walls. This well has preserved the Shuri traditional communal well style, and the stone walls were elaborate and well-balanced. Until recent years, this well had been one of the worship places for “Umachinuguwan (praying for prevention of fire),” a folk event held in September of the lunar calendar.
