- Site of the Rinzai sect Kenzen-ji temple. Sango (Mountain Name) is Reishizan. It is branch temple of Tennouji temple. King Sho Taikyu, the first Sho Dynasty during Keitai era (1450 - 1456), is considered the founder of this temple. It fell into ruins at the time of the Satsuma Invasion (1609), but 10 years later Prince Sho Kyu of Kin, led an initiative to begin its restoration and at one time it became the Bodai-ji (family temple) of the Kin family. The temple, however, was rebuilt at this location and not on what is believed to have been its original site in Sakiyama, Shuri.
The Bodai-ji temple (family temple) grounds of about 2,400 square meter was said to have included beautiful gardens, but since the property was sold into private hands in early Showa ear. The only visible remains today are the stone steps at the entrance and the well which is known for its good quality water. - Quote
