Okinawa International Fishing Tournament in Tomarin
Event
With the Tomari Port of Naha City as the main location, this fishing tournament takes place on the main island of Okinawa, Tokashiki Village and Zamami Village. The fishing tournament consists of the “Lure” category in which artificial baits are used for fishing, and the “Eging (squid fishing)” category where Egi lures are used to catch bigfin reef squids and giant cuttlefish. The winner is decided by the weight of a catch. Spring is the best season to catch plenty of fish because they get very active. Especially, large-sized bigfin reef squids come close to the shore in large numbers, so anglers can easily catch squids weighing two to three kilograms. They may be lucky enough to catch more monstrous squids over five kilograms.
