- Today, the site of the Okinawa Teacher Training College is located in the corner of current Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts property. The Okinawa Teacher Training College was established in 1943. It was the only teacher training college which did not have a connection to the succeeding new University system after the war. The college facility was destroyed by the war and closed afterward. A predecessor institution of the college was a conversational training school established in 1880. The conversational training school taught standard Japanese and elementary school curriculum. The Himeyuri Student Corps and Tekketsu Kinnotai (student corps) were formed by students of this college and many of them lost their lives.
