Shuri Castle Park, Nanden & Bandokoro
Historic sitesHistoryShuri Castle Park
The “Nanden (South Hall)” and “Bandokoro (Visitors Hall)” are located on the right-hand side when you face the Seiden (Main Hall) from the Houshin Gate. The Nanden was where Japanese-style ceremonies took place and the officials of the Satsuma-clan were entertained here and its architecture is in a Japanese design; as well, the Bandokoro was the main entrance to the Ryukyu Kingdom government’s administrative facility, where visitors to the castle were first received. Currently, only its exterior is restored, and both the Nanden and the Bandokoro are used as a museum.
