Sashikasa Hija (Natural Spring)
Historic sites
The Hija (Natural Spring) area, surrounded by the stone fence constructed in splendid stone masonry, gives off a mysterious atmosphere. Tradition says that this Hija (natural spring) was discovered based on a comment made by a daughter of King Sho Shin, Sashikasa Aji. She said “There must be spring water” by seeing many birds flocking to the area. It is also said that the Hija (natural spring), which had been supported lives of many people from the ancient times, had never dried up even under severe drought. Water is still springing from the Hija that creates serene atmosphere to people who came to pray.
